You know by now that social media isn’t just a phase, and it’s only getting bigger. More and more money is being invested into the social media market and it’s worth more than your Director who says it’s a waste of time could ever imagine.
There are so many reasons you should be on social media, it’s a no brainer. You can target your audiences and share content far and wide. You can remarket and publicise to those who are specifically interested in your product or service. You can use analytics to measure its success. What’s to be sniffed at?
It’s like anything in life, you get out what you put in. Social media shouldn’t be seen as ‘a job for the youngster’ of the office. You wouldn’t give the office Intern a speaker slot at your annual summit, so why do you delegate the most powerful communication tool in the world? It needs to be nurtured.
Some see social media as a chore, some think it’s a doss and others might think it’s a waste of energy.
Had a bad meal? Take to Twitter to complain. The bus is late again. Complain on the company Facebook page. It’s bad press – we know. But people are going to post it anyway, so if you’re not there to be able to jump in and rectify the situation, I’m sure your competitor will take great pleasure in doing it for you…
Social media is such a marketing essential. B2B and B2C, at the end of the day we’re all people and most of us have personalities… Build your presence and your brand through one of the most simple and effective channels. But never underestimate the power of social media.
