Kava is a vibrant business communications, marketing and design agency situated on the Cotswolds edge near Dursley in Gloucestershire with easy access to Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Bristol and Bath. Our portfolio has global reach and we work across many industries including technology, retail and public sector. The company has seen considerable growth recently so our books are buzzing!

We are looking for a conscientious, experienced, part-time Accounting Manager to join our team. As part of our commitments, Kava also provides accounting management to some clients which is integrated into the role.

Role and responsibilities

  • Payroll administration
  • Book-keeping
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monitoring financial transactions across all accounts
  • Credit control
  • Preparing accounts, reports, budgets and financial statements
  • Calculating year end accounts, liaising with external accountants
  • Ensuring compliance with tax legislation of all kinds
  • Processing returns and payments to HMRC including VAT and PAYE
  • Liaising with the directors, employees, suppliers and client billing contacts

Technical skills and experience

  • 5+ years experience in accounting administration
  • Competency in Xero accounting software essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Mac OS an advantage
  • Positive, ‘can-do’ and highly organised approach
  • Able to manage own workload
